Emerson Spartz, named “The Virologist” by The New Yorker, is one of the world’s leading experts on internet virality and has been named to both Forbes’ and Inc Magazine’s “30 Under 30” lists.
Emerson is the CEO of Dose, one of the world’s fastest-growing digital media companies with a monthly audience of 50 million people. Dose, the company behind Dose.com and OMGFacts.com, has raised $35 million in funding.
Emerson shares 5 ways companies can use data to improve culture:
1. Event surveys. If you’re going to invest in an event, you best make sure it’s one your people actually want to attend.
2. SWAG surveys. Same concept—don’t buy SWAG unless you know people are going to wear it.
3. Culture is everyone’s job. Everybody contributes to and transmits culture, so promote the idea that culture is everybody’s responsibility.
4. Music. One of the easiest ways to infuse an environment with energy. Encourage employees to collaborate on playlists.
5. Quarterly culture surveys. Regularly gather feedback on what’s working and what isn’t.
