1. Have a solid process. Know exactly what you’re hiring for before you start interviewing.
2. Build your values first. Make sure people you’re interviewing mesh with your team’s values.
3. Internal referrals are fantastic. Need to find new talent? Start by asking your best employees for recommendations.
4. Take your time. In the long run you’re better off taking an extra month to find the perfect fit than rushing to fill a seat.
5. CEOs should do the final interview. Realistically this becomes a more challenging when your organization tops 100 people, but always strive to maintain some senior-level involvement in the hiring process.
