Marc Landsberg is the founder and CEO of SOCIALDEVIANT, a native social media agency focused on creating value for marketers and consumers in a socially connected world.
Marc boasts more than two decades of marketing and leadership experience including serving as CEO of MRM Worldwide and ARC Worldwide, and as director of Lake Capital.
Marc shares 5 lessons about company culture he picked up in the agency world:
1. Make it real. Stand up in front of the whole crowd. Say things that people can see, touch, feel. Culture is made up of actions more than it is words.
2. Overcommunicate. Overcommunicate but stay on point. Repetition is your friend. Don’t try to say something novel every time you open your mouth. Overcommunicate.
3. Leadership is personal. Get to know your employees. Remember their children’s birthdays. Allow a real connection to develop. Leadership is nothing if it’s not personal.
4. Lead by example. An old Yiddish proverb says fish stinks from the head. Yes it does. If your actions don’t align with your words your culture will deteriorate.
5. Be fully transparent. Share everything with your employees. Where you’re traveling, who you’re meeting, the company P&L. Transparency breeds connection.
